A lot of couples think it’s all about the music as far as the evening entertainment is concerned. Music is very important, but more important is creating the right moment, creating the right energy.

To give you a story to illustrate that; last summer I was doing a wedding and the groom’s grandparents were both in their 90’s. They were both about 5 foot tall and it was around about 11 o’clock. Most of the other elderly people had gone home, but this couple were on the dance floor having a great time. I was playing Faithless- Insomnia. Everyone on the dance floor was jumping up and down with their hands in the air, and this little old couple are also jumping up and down with their hands in the air. Totally carried away and having a great time.

Would they listen to that song at home? Not a chance. But they were just caught up in the moment. Don’t get caught up in micromanaging your DJ by giving him enormous playlists. If you have faith, if you have confidence he knows what he’s doing, he’s knowledgeable. Then just let him read the moment and create a great atmosphere. You’ll get a far better evening reception.

It’s not about the music, it’s about the moment!
