UK Wedding DJ of the YearI won UK Wedding DJ of the Year… and it’s not a dream!

Life can be amazing sometimes! In November I felt extremely honoured (although surprised) to hear I’d won the Wedding DJ of the Year for London & the South-East and that felt great…

Then on January 14, 2016 that feeling was multiplied by around 10 when I was awarded UK Wedding DJ of the Year in a lavish ceremony thrown by The Wedding Industry Awards at the plush Cafe de Paris in Leicester Square, which saw awards given out in 26 different categories such as florists, wedding planners and make-up.

The competition I faced was extremely tough with some excellent DJs that had won their regional award from areas such as the south-west, north-west, midlands and so on.

When my name was announced as the winner it was an amazing feeling. The video below shows the expression on my face at the announcement.

The evening was a lot of fun and I was able to meet with many of the best wedding professionals from all across the UK, some of whom I had worked at with at previous weddings and it was great to talk with them in a completely relaxed environment where we weren’t working.

Since this happened I have been overwhelmed with messages of congratulations on email, text, social media and by phone from friends, family, fellow DJs and also from many couples I have had the pleasure to work with over the last few years.

It has been fantastic speaking and communicating with couples who I haven’t seen for many months …and many years in some cases and also very touching hearing just how many of them now have children 🙂

One sentiment that was expressed by a few couples was that they still clearly remember how great their wedding was and how much fun they had and that they still receive comments from their friends such as this uk wedding dj of the yearone:

It’s made me realise how lucky I am because every week I am in the position of performing at occasions that are filled with love, fun and happiness and I’m charged with raising that energy and increasing it right through to the very end of what is often a long long day.

So when I meet and talk with former couples it’s always about the fond memories they had of a wonderful day that they remember with a smile.

To have a “job” where my task is to create a great atmosphere that results in lots of smiling faces and laughter is itself a lot of fun… albeit a lot of responsibility though… but mostly fun 🙂

If you’re getting married please get in touch so we can have a chat about your day and create something special that will leave you with the same memories that hundreds of my former couples have 🙂
